If you happened not to have an idea on how to promote your business on Pinterest then you are missing out big time! Pinterest could be THE tool for you to reach your new audience and your future customers!
First of all, I need to mention that Pinterest is not only a social media network? Pinterest is actually a search engine! Because of all that, people use Pinterest for different reasons than they use Facebook or Instagram. People come to Pinterest to find ideas and inspiration for buying new products to buy.
There is a very interesting piece of information published by eMarketer. It says that that only Facebook has bigger reach and Facebook is the only social media network that outranks Pinterest in terms of influencing the purchasing decisions of the U.S. users.
Over than 70% of Pinners on Pinterest said they have discovered something new to buy on Pinterest. A little less than 95% of all the people from Pinterest use the Pinterest to plan their future purchases. How To Promote Your Business On Pinterest
When we come down to the question of how to promote your business on Pinterest, it’s very important to know these facts:
- The life of a Pinterest Pin is 1,600 times longer than the lifetime of a Facebook post.
- The average Pinterest user spends 14.2 minutes pinning every day.
- Back in the year 2014 Pinterest was the fastest growing social network, growing by 97% from the year before. Some crazy numbers, right?
Knowing the numbers like these It’s very easy to notice the power that Pinterest has grown into. Therefore, these numbers will help you grow your own business as well.
It’s much easier to promote your own stuff when you know that the pin representing your business stays promoted that long.
Just imagine your pins that represent your business keep on popping up in the Pinterest feed even 5 months after you first promoted them!
That is literally uncomparable to a superfast stream of the news feed that both Twitter and Facebook have to offer right now.
With Pinterest, we have a completely different picture. Your pins representing your blog posts or your business of any kind get more visibility over time and keep on sending traffic as months pass by. That is Great! You have to admit that!
Using Pinterest For Business Overview
As I described Pinterest is different from other social networks, using Pinterest for business is also a little different than using any other social network.
Here is the quick overview of important Pinterest terminology.
What Are Pins?
Everything in Pinterest revolves around Pins. The most successful pins get the most shares, therefore the most exposure to your blog post or essentially your business.
The key ingredient of your Pin is actually the link. If you are using Pinterest for business than your pins should link back to the original source. Which means to your blog post or to your offer etc.
What Are Pinterest Boards?
If you want to know how to promote your business on Pinterest then you have to have some of the boards on you Pinterest account.
Pinterest users have quite a lot of stuff created and saved on their boards. The incredible 100 billion Pins so far. So in order to have things organized, all those pins must be organized into collections called Pinterest Boards. For example, my Pinterest account has the board called Best of Nice and Easy Living which contains all the best pins I have to offer.
Pinners can follow your entire profile or they can follow a certain board that interests them the most.
Create Your Own Pinterest Business Account
In addition to using Pinterest for business, you need to set up your business account. If you already have signed up to your personal Pinterest account and you’re logged in, you need to log out. Then go to Pinterest for Business and join in as a Business, complete all the necessary details.
You need to convert your profile to a Business Account by going to Pinterest for Business and then you click “Convert Now”. Complete the information & Click “Convert”.
From that moment on you will have a business account on Pinterest. You won’t lose any valuable pins, boards or followers. Everything stays as is, except a few additional features.
Complete Your Profile On Pinterest Business Account
This one is very easy, you need to upload your best picture 🙂 or you can go with your logo as well. Choose your username, the one that best describes your business or brand.
By the way, this username will be your URL on Pinterest, so it could be the start of your own brand!
Write a little something about yourself, some specific keywords that fit your brand. Add your website, and verify your website… This is basically pretty darn easy, anybody can do it. I really think you won’t have any problems with that.
In my opinion, everything here is made to answer the answer the question how to promote your business on Pinterest!
Verifying Your Website
Using Pinterest for business requires things like your website verification. If you don’t verify your website you won’t be able to access Pinterest analytics. Here is how you go about fixing your website confirmation:
- Go to the main page of your account and click “edit profile“
- Scroll all the way down to where you need to put your website address, and then click “verify“
- Then you’ll see a pop-up with verification instructions – Select bolded “Download this file“
- Next, you need to upload that downloaded file to the root directory of your website via cPanel. Then you will return to your Pinterest profile and click the button saying “click here to complete the process“
- You will receive a message that says your verification was successful.
Set Up Pinterest Rich Pins
Before we get into setting up Rich Pins I have to explain what Rich Pins actually are.
Rich Pins are basically Pins that include some extra info right there on the Pin itself. if you happened to be a blogger, your Rich Pin includes data that you normally wouldn’t see without clicking through to the article. Those are the headlines and descriptions of the article and the author’s name.

You will have to name your boards based on your keywords. Have in mind that Pinterest is actually a search engine so it would be smart to work on your keywords for better search results. How to promote your business on Pinterest other than to be found through the keywords?
The boards are researchable – so don’t miss out on an opportunity to get the best out of your boards.
It’s all so easy and very user-friendly. From now on you really don’t need any real guidance except your own imagination. Pin away and you’ll have a lot of fun while using Pinterest for business. If you happen to have any questions about this topic please let me know.
